Stan Kenton “Lost Concert” DVD Now Available
You Kenton fans asked for it, and here it is.
Good news from GEM Records! Over the past months, dozens of Kenton fans have
e-mailed us and written asking if we were going to make a DVD of our “Stan
Kenton Lost Concert”. So we now offer a new DVD including a photo gallery
showing Stan’s most important bands, LP covers of his most popular albums, Stan
on the bus, and many other colorful exciting “extras” of before the concert
activities, celebrity introductions that are not in the video, and the award
ceremony in which the City Of Los Angeles honors Stan and his music and on stage
presents him with an honorary resolution signed by members of the Los Angeles
City Council. But the most important DVD feature also not possible with the
video is the menu showing the opening frames of all 12 numbers so you can
“click” and play your favorite selections again and again at any time without
having to run the entire concert
Here is the actual DVD top menu with selections you can choose from:

And here are six of the 12 concert selections:

The numbers on the video are:
Body and Soul, Chelsea Bridge, A Little Minor Booze, Turtle Talk,
All The Things You Are, Malaguena, Bogota, Lush Life, Peanut Vendor,
Roy’s Blues, Intermission Riff, LAST PERFORMANCE of Artistry In Rhythm
Following 85 minutes of his best band ever in full stereo, we proudly present a
series of live interviews that span Stan’s entire career. There are over twenty
memorable color photographs of his greatest bands, Stan on the stand waving his
arms, Stan conducting his school clinics, and several full color shots of his
hottest albums from the Capitol & June Christy years.
The legendary Pete Rugolo, an original player in Stan's first band and
co-architect of the "Kenton Sound", says of The Lost Concert,
“This is the finest live concert recording of Kenton I’ve ever heard. The
fidelity is extraordinary."
The VHS video and the DVD also contain a brilliant 12-minute color photo
documentary of Stan’s life with photos of his top LP albums and his various
bands presented over rare radio interviews where Stan talks live about his life
and his music.
